Beach and golf holiday in Thailand! Phuket, in the south of Thailand, offers the traveller relaxation on fine sandy beaches, as well as fantastic golf holidays with a series of outstanding golf courses. The golf resort Banyan Tree Phuket, as part of the Laguna Phuket, is located right next to the Laguna Phuket Golf Club. This complex is grouped around a large lagoon and comprises several hotels, shops and restaurants, plus a golf course. Not only is the Banyan tree the resort's namesake, in Asia it is also synonymous with serenity and tranquillity. And the guest can feel it everywhere, whether during a visit to the SPA or walking in the tropical gardens on the way to the golf villa.
The detached villa has a 4 x 15 m pool in the garden and is luxuriously equipped. Every day, breakfast is served to you in the villa, as is four o'clock tea and cocktails in the evening. Soft drinks, fresh fruit on a daily basis, and the latest newspapers are part of the service.

Situated on a large lake, the course has fantastic views across the Andaman Sea in one direction and to the surrounding mountains in the other. Designed by Max Wexler and David Abell and opened in 1991, the championship course snakes through the watery landscape and requires an accurate game with much tactical play from every golfer. On many of the holes the natural water hazards come into play, and misguided strokes can easily find their way into the one of the numerous lakes. Depending on the ever-changing conditions, other difficulties may be posed by sea breezes sweeping across the course, which add a touch of additional excitement. The Laguna Phuket course also has extensive practice facilities, including a driving range and putting greens. There is also a very nice clubhouse with pro shop, locker rooms and the Banyan Cafe.

To the north of the Laguna Resort on the east coast of the island, not far from the bridge connecting Phuket with the mainland, is the Phuket Mission Hills Golf Resort, with its Jack Nicklaus-designed golf course. It is not hard to guess that this course was indeed designed by the former world-class golfer himself and it is fairly typical of his designs, with little rough, however larger waste areas and lots of water on seven of the holes. The course is quite generous with very good tee areas and heavily undulating greens. Overall the Mission Hills course is extremely scenic, with many holes playing towards the sea with great views over the Andaman Sea making for one or two bogeys. The Mission Hills clubhouse is luxuriously equipped and offers everything that a golfer should expect from a facility of this class.

These include "Asia's Best Golf Course" and the "Top 500 Best Holes in the World" (Canyon Course Hole 17 - Par 3). Opened in 1991 on land formerly home to a disused tin mine and a former rubber plantation, the Blue Canyon Country Golf Club Phuket was designed by Japanese designer Yoshikazu Kato. Just three years later, and again in 1998, the course was the venue for the Johnnie Walker Classic. Surrounded by freshwater lakes, the course features a splendid mix of natural obstacles, narrow, tree-lined fairways and narrow landing areas. The greens are well protected and, as the name of the Canyon Course suggests, many of the holes run alongside picturesque gorges. Great players such as Tiger Woods, Bernard Langer and Greg Normann have all heaped praise on the Blue Canyon Country Golf Club Phuket as one of the world's best golfing facilities.
Par 72 / 5,844 metres playing off blue. The Lakes Course was also designed by Japanese designer Yoshikazu Kato, who incidentally resides at the Blue Canyon Country Club and is constantly working on the further development of his design. The course was opened in 1999 and is true to its name, with water coming into play on 17 of the 18 holes! The course is a mixture of canyons, which filled naturally with water after the mine fell into disuse, and artificial lakes planted with numerous trees that were formerly used for tapping rubber. The greens are more generous than at the Canyon Course, and the Lakes Course actually possesses some of the largest greens in Asia! In particular the sixth green with 1,115 m², and the second green with 1,040 m². In fact the Lakes Course often gives the opportunity of attacking the green with a driver, however the real challenge is the approach and putting on these huge greens.
