With breathtaking views across the Mediterranean and its unique location on two high plateaus separated by a wide gorge 300 metres above the sea, Aphrodite Hills is one of the most stunning golf courses in the whole of Europe. Designed by Cabell Robinson, the course delivers a perfect combination of neatly groomed fairways with lush Bermuda grass and olive and carob trees, terraced greens, challenging bunkers and canyons up to 130 metres in width.
With constant sweeping views over the Mediterranean and five tee positions per hole, Aphrodite Hills is suitable for more advanced golfers. A buggy is a must for this rambling course, the price of which is included in the green fees (one buggy for two people). The golf club also has a very large driving range and a 3-hole short course for beginners. Experienced PGA pros are resident at Aphrodite Hills for coaching and are happy to provide advice and tips
PAR 72 / 5.904 metres. Located in a desert setting directly below the Aphrodite Hills golf course is the Secret Valley Golf Club, with its intriguing fairways, lush vegetation, mature trees, cacti and an elegant clubhouse. Currently featuring one 18-hole championship course, the facility will soon be expanded by a further 18 holes, making it the largest golf resort on the island. Opened in 1996, the Secret Valley Golf Club underwent improvements in 2003 and 2005 and is today in excellent condition. One particular feature is the numerous oleander and cactus plantations. After completing a round, you will be able to relax and enjoy the views of the artificial lake and the course from the terrace of the modern clubhouse. The facility also has a well-stocked pro shop. The course is easily manageable by foot; however buggies are available for hire.
PAR 72 / 6.060 metres. The course at the Minthis Hills Golf Club (formerly known as Tsada G.C.) lies high in the hills at a height of 550 metres, around 15 kilometres north of Paphos, in the grounds of an old 12th century convent. The 18-hole course (par 72) was designed by Donald Steel in 1994 and is perfectly integrated into the surrounding countryside and vineyards. The oldest golf course in Cyprus, it underwent extensive renovations that lasted two years and was reopened in 2007 in perfect condition. Several of the holes have been completely redesigned. For example hole 14, which was formerly a par 3, has been transformed into a spectacular par 4 with terraced tees over a gorge and hole 15, formerly a short yet tricky par 4, is now a fair yet also tricky par 3. The old Minthis Hills clubhouse has been replaced with a new building and a new driving range has also been constructed.
Par 71 / 5.453 metres. The Elea Golf Club is the newest golf course and the fourth to be sited on the Greek side of this Mediterranean island. It was officially opened on 18th October 2010 by its designer, the world-class golfer Nick Faldo, who created this course on a former carob tree plantation situated between Paphos and the Aphrodite Hills Resort. The course carries several signatures of this golfing supremo: wide fairways, numerous deep bunkers and large, tricky greens with challenging breaks that are there to be conquered. The grass sown on the entire course is extremely resilient and cushions the club head, especially in the short game. The course at the Elea Golf Club is not particularly long, however impresses with its layout. In terms of degree of difficulty, hole 17 is particularly challenging. The attractive clubhouse is situated on a hill, from which one can survey the entire course.
