The Praia D'El Rey was voted no. 13 in a poll conducted by Golf World Magazine of the best courses in Europe and since its opening in 1997 has become one of the most important golf courses in Europe. The course lies in the heart of the Costa de Prata (silver coast) and only a few kilometres from the mediaeval town of obidos. Cabell Robinson has created a masterful links course, making good use of the natural cliffs, sand dunes, and lush pine forests. The Praia D'El Rey golf course is quite long and presents all the usual challenges to be expected of a typical links course. Precision is required to master this course. In addition to a driving range and two putting greens, there is also a nice clubhouse with views of the ocean.

Positioned directly on the lake that takes its name from the historical town of obidos, the 18-hole championship course at the Bom Sucesso Resort was designed by Donald Steel. The course was opened just recently and follows the sometimes flat, sometimes hilly terrain with some very demanding holes. The views across the surrounding countryside can be breathtaking. Bom Sucesso golf course can be enjoyed by golfers of all handicaps. Teeing off the white tees is a challenge for more experienced golfers, whilst precise drives to the fairways and greens are possible from the front tees. Approach shots are not easy because not only the greens but also the zones around them can be quite undulating. And the numerous bunkers are also likely to catch you out. Holes 16, 17 and 18 are worth a particular mention as these are three of the best in Portugal!

Close to Rio Maior, approx. 35 minutes north of Lisbon, is the Golden Eagle Golf Resort, one of the prettiest and, according to the Portuguese Golf Federation, one of the most difficult courses in Portugal. Designed by the American Rocky Roquemore, the course carries the clear signature of the "American School" with its focus on "target golf". The Golden Eagle golf course covers around 90 hectares and is perfectly integrated into its surroundings. Nine lakes and 87 sometimes extremely large bunkers make life hard for the golfer, and the mature trees scattered around the course constitute a further obstacle. After the course was extended to more than 6,600 metres playing off the white tees, it was given the designation of championship course.
Par 72 / 5,510 metres playing off yellow. Designer Donald Steel created a masterpiece in the 18-hole Campo Real Golf course with its vast variety of flora and fauna, all blended perfectly into the natural surroundings. Cork oaks and eucalyptus trees are scattered around the course, and the course smells just as good as it looks! Campo Real, the "king's field", takes its name from times when the kings of Portugal used this terrain for hunting. Nowadays the only thing hunted here are birdies, and the course, which starts and ends with a par 5, leads over high hills and through magnificent valleys. A buggy is recommended for less energetic golfers. There aren't too many bunkers; however those that are here are strategically positioned, making a round very interesting from that aspect. Practice facilities at the Campo Real Golf Resort include a large driving range, four practice greens with bunkers and practice facilities for the short game.
